MICROSOFT ENTERS THE WORKFLOW AUTOMATION SPACE

You may be familiar with If This, Then That, the cloud-based service that permits users to tie together two of their cloud-based accounts so data generate and actions performed in one service can be used in another. The idea is to automate the rote tasks of data management.
Now, Microsoft’s joined the automation arena with Microsoft Flow, a web-based front end to a cloud service that will allow cloud-based service users to automate some of their own data-management chores.
You can browse the number of available recipes at the Microsoft Flow Preview. Among the ones aimed at end users:
  • Create a to-do item in Wunderlist for important emails – “This template creates a task in Wunderlist when emails marked important are sent to your Office 365 inbox. You’ll need to select what list to add this task to.”
  • Save tweets to a CSV file in OneDrive – “Have a hard time keeping track of all of the tweets on your business? You can now archive all of those tweets into a simple csv file so you can see the tweets in Excel. This template will create a file called TweetsFromYourFlow.csv in the root folder of your OneDrive.”
  • Get daily reminders in Email – “Use Flow templates to help you get started building your own flow. This flow will send you a reminder every day. Connections used in this template: Office 365 Users, Office 365 Outlook”
  • Save email attachments to Dropbox – “Tired of searching through your emails for attachments? Store them all in one place for easy access. This flow will store all the attachments you receive in email to a specific folder in Dropbox.”
  • Copy files between OneDrive and Dropbox – “When a file is added to your OneDrive, make it show up in Dropbox.”
  • Create new tweets from Facebook posts – “Keep your Twitter and Facebook posts in sync with each other. Automatically tweet every time you post to your Facebook wall.”
What is notable is how Microsoft is incorporating non-Microsoft, cloud-based services into their recipes, including Box, Dropbox, Facebook, MailChimpm Salesforce, Slack and Twitter.
It’s a model for services that is a lot less “walled garden” and a lot more “public park.” And while it reinforces Microsoft’s repeated focus on helping people use Microsoft tools to work smarter, the admission that sometimes, the smartest way to work is with a non-Microsoft tool is one that’s rather forward-looking.
Why would you go with Microsoft Flow over IFTTT? The answer is aimed more at IT pros or business operators than end users: Because you can incorporate Flow and its recipes into the tools that your employees are already using. But if you’re one of those employees, streamlining your work is a win-win.

BLACKROOM, NEW GAME FROM ‘DOOM’ CREATORS: KICKSTARTER

Blackroom, the new project being developed by John Romero and Adrian Carmack under Night Work Games, is a first-person shooter that holds a lot of promise.
Romero and Carmack are known for their role in bringing massively popular franchises Doom and Quake into the video game industry, so Blackroom comes with high expectations.
Night Work Games launched a Kickstarter page forBlackroom earlier in the week, with the crowdfunding campaign looking to raise $700,000. The page described the game as “a visceral, varied and violent shooter that harkens back to classic FPS play.”
The project, however, has already experienced a hiccup, as funding for the campaign was canceled by the developers.
In its Kickstarter page, Night Work Games wrote that it is now developing a playable demo of Blackroom, which will show the features that make the title unique. However, the trade-off is that the crowdfunding campaign will be put on hold while the studio will work on the gameplay demo.
The reasoning behind the cancellation of the Kickstarter campaign is that the development of the gameplay demo will take longer than the time left in the campaign. Night Work Games decided it would be best to suspend the fundraising until the gameplay demo is ready, at which point a new campaign will be launched.
The studio noted that it is making this decision as gamers have clamored for a demo, perhaps to convince them to support the Kickstarter campaign. Night Work Games admitted it should have developed the demo first before launching the campaign.
Night Work Games will still honor backer achievements once the campaign has been re-launched, and for those who have supported the canceled campaign and will do so in the next one, the studio hinted that there will be a bonus.
At the time of the cancellation of the campaign,Blackroom already $131,052 out of its $700,000 goal from 2,287 backers in less than a week. Whether or not the campaign will see more success upon its relaunch with a playable demo remains to be seen.
“It should only take us a few months to bring all of that together. It won’t be a full level, but it will be enough gameplay to show off the speed and all the other things we’re talking about,” said Romero in an interview.

COD Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition price leak with PS4 DLC

We have some more news on Call of Duty Infinite Warfare now for you after the big leak earlier this week. This time, it is an even bigger leak with an HD screenshot once again confirming the name, box art and perhaps more importantly the COD Infinite Warfare price for the standard edition vs the Legacy Edition.
To recap, the Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition is rumored to be the special edition of the game and it is thought to be coming with a copy of .
Now thanks to another leak from Imgur, we could have the price for you. Assuming it is legitimate, then the normal version is going to be $60 as expected, but the Legacy Edition could cost you $80.cod-infinite-warfare-leaked-posted-prices
Note that the image above shows prices for the Canadian market, which should clear up some of the confusion upon first viewing.
The other big news if this image leak is real, is that Modern Warfare Remastered willonly include 10 mapsfrom the original, not all 20. Given the fact that all leaks so far have shown PS4 copies, it also appears safe to say that any DLC for this game is going to be exclusive to PlayStation once again.
Sony said that Call of Duty is now the home of PlayStation so this makes sense to follow on with the next game after Black Ops 3. One point we do want to raise though, if the Remaster only comes with 10 maps on disc – does it mean that the other 10 will be DLC?

Apple Watch 2 or price drop needed to stem falling sales

Apple are not having a good time of late, as many of their products seems to be falling in terms of sales, such as the iPhone and now their Watch device. Even though the Apple Watch still commands the most market share for smartwatches, its actual share has fallen and there does not seem any reason why this trend will stop any time soon.
There are two possibly ways to stop the stem of falling sales and that is with either an Apple Watch 2 being released, or failing that, an Apple Watch price drop, and not by just a few dollars, but a substantial one.
However, there is an issue with both, as we highly doubt we will see a second generation Apple Watch released within the next quarter, or even a decrease in price, and so sales look set to just keep falling.
Apple-Watch-sales
We know that increased competition is also another factor with Apple’s falling sales of their Watch, and so yet another reason why this trend shows no signs of stopping. This is also the case with the iPhone, and with rumors that the iPhone 7 features or design will not be too different to the current model, we also find it hard how Apple will be able to get things on track and see improved iPhone sales.
Some of the other things that are now starting to let the Apple Watch down are its performance and no GPS. If Apple can increase the speed to make it compete better with rivals, and also throw in GPS, then these are just two simple ways to make it a far more competitive device.

SAMSUNG GEAR 360 VIRTUAL REALITY CAMERA LAUNCHES TODAY, STANDALONE VR HEADSET INCOMING

The window of opportunity to get in on the ground floor of the virtual reality movement from the content creation side is right now, but not everyone has suitcases full of cash to invest in pricey VR camera arrays.
That’s okay because Samsung’s Gear 360 is now on sale in select countries, and it costs far less than Facebook’s $30,000 Surround 360 platform or HTC’s $5,000 Omni camera.
Samsung delivered the news this morning during a keynote presentation at its Developers Conference in San Francisco. The Gear 360 is now available for purchase online in South Korea for 399,300 Korean Won (around $350 in U.S. currency) and will head to hundreds of store shelves in May.
It’s also available in Europe for 350 euros. Oddly enough, Samsung didn’t say when the Gear 360 will head to other regions, though it did confirm that the U.S. is on the select list of launch countries-boo!
Gear 360 is a sphere shaped camera that’s a little bigger than a golf ball. It has dual F/2.0 fisheye lenses, both with 15-megapixel sensors, to capture 360-degree content in up to 4K Ultra HD (3840×1920) resolution at 30 frames per second.
You can also snap 30-megapixel still photos with the Gear 360, and/or shoot 180-degree wide-angle video and images by using just one side of the camera. Due to its small size and lightweight design (it weighs a mere 153 grams), Samsung is pushing the portability angle.
The Gear 360 is also dust and splash resistant, making it well suited for adventures in the outdoors, whether it’s a camping trip or a day at the beach. It has a microSD card slot that supports memory cards up to 128GB for up to 140 minutes of recording.
Samsung is positioning itself to dominate the low-cost VR market. The Gear 360 is one of the least expensiveVR cameras available (albeit in select countries at the moment), and its Gear VR headset is also a cheap alternative to systems like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
The caveat is compatibility-the Gear 360 is only compatible with certain Samsung smartphones, specifically the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy 6 Plus, Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy 6.

Sony appears to be working on a high-end compact phone with amazing cameras

Before you even think it, don’t go there. Just… don’t. We know it may feel like Apple is boldly swimming against the tide in trying to bring compact phones back in the spotlight, but Android manufacturers such as Sony never gave up on diminutive flagships.
Granted, the Japanese OEM that continues to offset big mobile losses with a well-oiled gaming machine did recently decide to retire the high-end Xperia Z family, introducing instead three 5-inch X-series handhelds.
If you feared that meant the end of unusually powerful sub-5-inchers, we now have proof a Z5 Compact sequel of sorts is in the pipeline. This carries the model number F3216, so it could be branded in many ways, but make no mistake, its intentions are crystal clear.
The Xperia Z5 Compact torch will be passed on to this… Xperia X Compact (?), with a higher-res 4.6-inch 1080p display in tow, as well as 2GB RAM, an octa-core 1.9GHz MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 processor, 16GB internal storage space, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-loaded.
The most intriguing aspect of the mysterious Sony F3216 is how it appears to downgrade the Z5 Compact’s 23MP rear-facing camera to “only” 20MP, while significantly upping the selfie-friendly ante from 5 to 15 megapixels. That probably rounds up to a cool 16MP, so you shouldn’t rule out this being a mini variant of therecently rumored Xperia M Ultra after all.
Meanwhile, the same benchmarking database that broke the F3216’s cover also exposes an equally cryptic, lower-end F3311, with a 4.6-inch 720p screen on deck, quad-core MT6735 power, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB ROM, 13 and 5MP cams, as well as pre-installed Android 6.0 software goodies. Any guesses regarding a moniker here? Anyone?

XBOX ONE SLIM, PLAYSTATION NEO AND NINTENDO NX UPCOMING CHIPS FOR AMD

A new report from AMD revealed that the company will release three new chips destined for gaming platforms.
Even if no one knows for which platforms they are going to be used, many people think they are going to be for the PlayStation NEO, Xbox One Slim and Nintendo NX which were confirmed to be released.
Nevertheless, everybody keeps a close eye on the chipmaker’s future releases, especially if they are about gaming consoles.
PlayStation NEO
The new PlayStation NEO is an upgraded version of the PS4, which brings the console to a 2.1 GHz speed from the previous 1.6 GHz, it supports 4K and is equipped with a better and stronger AMD GCN GPU.
There weren’t released many details about it, but from what they said, we can deduce that the PS4.5, how it’s named sometimes, will have AMD-branded CPU and GPU, which makes us believe that these specifications are referring to the new chips from AMD.
Nintendo NX
Everyone knows that Nintendo is working on a new console, the NX, which is why more than a couple of rumors regarding it have surfaced in the past year.
Nintendo hasn’t confirmed any of those rumors yet, but is expected to do so by the end of this year or the beginning of next year. What is known though is that the company has used AMD GPUs for the past decade, more precisely since the release of GameCube.
Xbox One Slim
The next Microsoft gaming console wasn’t confirmed yet, but based on the fact that the company uses to change the hardware of the Xbox when it’s about to release a Slim version, we can assume that the next console will be just that, or at least a minor upgrade.
Long story short, even though AMD confirmed the release of three chips, we don’t know what they are for, meaning that the console makers will have to make the announcement themselves, whether they will be used for the next gaming stations or not.
